"Talismans” is a series of several watercolor and ink illustrations depicting a variety of gemstones. The concept behind this series stemmed from the idea that some individuals (“some” meaning cool, witchy, hippie types) might carry a gemstone on their person to give them luck, power, or protection.
I’m not really sure I believe there’s any kind of special energy that emanates from these stones to give them these properties. However, I know without a doubt, if you ascribe power to something, you’re mentality and outlook will change.
Anything is a talisman if you believe it to be. A rose quartz can help promote love and emotional healing if you believe that carrying it in your pocket is good for you, in the same way that hanging an illustration of one on your wall can serve you as a reminder to take care of your heart.
